Regenerative Medicine For Equines At Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital
Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital offers 2 options for regenerative medicine in the horse; Pro-Stride APS and Arthramid: both are available to be scheduled with all three of our large animal veterinarians on the farm or here in hospital.

What’s the difference?
Pro-Stride
Pro-Stride® APS Is a Device That Creates a Solution to Manage Equine Lameness and Arthritis in Horses by Concentrating the Healing Properties From a Horse’s Own Blood.
Pro-Stride APS is primarily used in helping manage osteoarthritis in horses and other causes of lameness to help reduce pain and inflammation. The < 20-minute process uses the horse’s own blood to create a concentrated solution that amplifies the healing process when injected into the injured area.
Pro-Stride can serve as a natural alternative to conventional osteoarthritis management options. The resulting concentrated solution of cells, platelets, growth factors and anti-inflammatory cytokines helps relieve pain, and restore the balance of inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines within the joint.
Key clinical uses of Pro-Stride® APS include osteoarthritis, synovitis, and tendon injuries.
Pro-Stride can be used in metabolic horses.
Arthramid
Arthramid is the latest in osteoarthritis therapy. It’s been used extensively in Europe, Asia, and Australia, and has made its way to the United States in the last few years. Arthramid has been developed over the last 20+ years with extensive research, backed by peer-reviewed research. Articles have been published in the Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, and the Osteoarthritis Research Society International.
How does it work?
Arthramid forms a bio scaffold in the synovial tissue through the injection of a polyacrylamide hydrogel that helps restore the joint’s normal balance, enhancing overall joint function. It can be used on any synovial joint in a horse’s body! By creating healthy synovial fluid, the body can naturally manage inflammation and produce healthy joint fluid, which restores joint function.
Because of Arthramid’s mode of action, it may take 2-4 weeks to fully integrate into the joint, BUT it will result in a better, and longer-lasting soundness! Arthramid is safe to use on every horse, no matter the lifestyle, or metabolic status!
