New information has come in regarding the upper respiratory outbreak at a Windsor kennel. Two dogs tested positive for Canine Pneumo virus and Streptococcus equi. One dog tested positive for Bordetella.
Canine Pneumo virus can be spread by direct contact and by aerosolized routes. Strep. equi requires direct contact. All patients are responding to antibiotic therapy. Currently there is no vaccine for Canine Pneumo virus or for Strep. equi in dogs. Vaccinations exist for Bordetella and both strains of Canine influenza virus.
